Unfortunately, the gallery itself is coded via simple, HTML frames and links, where every picture is manually added in.  There is no automation functionality in place, so there's no way to just add in such a feature without an entire rewrite of page.   This is why I have the Submissions section to this Forum, where people can upload their own pictures if they wish.

Personally, I despise these php Forum Galleries, as they are far too limiting in the format with which images can be displayed, always having the same, impersonal feel to them that you now see in 95% of the galleries out there.  The only advantage they offer, is they make it relatively easy to delete any Spam that's uploaded.

I'd love to have a way to make it all easier, while maintaining the more unique layout of the main page, but I've seen nothing out there that comes close, and I don't have the time to work on actual updates lately, let alone figure out how to write such an application myself. Sad

Just a thought

Wouldn't it be better to add a feature to the site where the user can upload his/her own photo? Of course the user would have to select what category it would go under and whatnot, and there may be the issue of duplicate photo's showing up, but it seems to me that it might be a more efficient way of keeping the site "fresh" for the user. Maybe just screen each photo before it gets uploaded.  Wink

Site downtime on 7/22

I apologize for the site being down for the past day.  There was a screw-up between the host service and my credit card company, where the latest charge was being flagged as a fraudulent transaction.  So, after numerous messages back and forth to support and multiple phone calls to the credit card company, things were finally straightened out and we're back again.

Hey cats and animal lovers!

A warm welcome to JJ gapes a lot! It's great to see how active this forum is getting!  And thanks to Rodent for the tips on the petting stations!  It's been a while since I've been to the zoo, just because I feel like the animals should be free in nature sometimes.  But these days animals get treated pretty well in zoo's.  Mascot man- one of these days we're going to have a maw photo expedition!

Thanks for the warrrrrrooaarm welcome everyone! Special shout out to a friend of mine - JJ gapes a lot. She happens to be a fan of non gaping maws. We're still friends though.

Donk3ysmile, what's happening in your neck of the jungle?

wow!  those are great pictures!

*smiles*  Thanks.  I keep trying for more camel yawns, but they're difficult to get.  I've waited by camel enclosures at the zoo for 30 minutes several times and never saw a single yawn.  They are definitely not like big cats.  *laughs*

The other problem of course, is that I've seen even better yawns, but only when the camel was facing away from the camera.  Another problem with zoos is that you're generally limited on what angles you can see the animals from, and often miss good yawn shots because of this.  But, I keep trying. I'm new here, but I really like camel, all equine and TIGERS!!!  Does anyone have pictures of donkey maws?  I've been trying to find them for a while.

Welcome to the Gaping Maws forums. Smiley

I've yet to get a donkey yawn captured.  Of course, when I go to the zoo, I usually avoid the 'petting zoo' section because of all the kids running around, and that's generally the only place you see any donkeys.  I'll have to keep my eyes open for such an opportunity though.
